Future Altegrity Security Consulting CEO Bill Bratton honored by Queen of England for helping US, UK improve policing

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Sept. 14, 2009— Altegrity Security Consulting’s soon-to-be CEO, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Chief William J. Bratton, was honored by the Queen of England last week for helping the United States and the United Kingdom improve policing. Chief Bratton will leave the LAPD and lead Altegrity Security Consulting (ASC), a new business unit in Altegrity that specializes in Criminal Justice Program Support (CJPS) work, as Chief Executive Officer later this fall. ASC will provide products, services, and solutions—including training, information, and consulting—to law enforcement agencies and the federal government, both in the United States and overseas.

Chief Bratton was honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, for his contributions to law enforcement. Chief Bratton was named an Honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The award is used to honor non-Britons for significant public service. British Ambassador to the United States Sir Nigel Sheinwald says Bratton has led a positive transformation in police work. [Read related press release from the British Embassy.]

Chief Bratton was recruited to lead ASC because of his exceptional record of innovation and excellence in solving tough law enforcement problems and for his one-of-a-kind experience in both U.S. and international law enforcement and criminal justice system operations. He is the only person to serve as chief executive of both the LAPD and the New York Police Department (NYPD), and he has established an international reputation for re-engineering police departments, creating solutions to intractable challenges facing civilian criminal justice systems, and leveraging technology to fight crime.

ASC, which focuses primarily on Criminal Justice Program Support (CJPS), will provide highly trained and advanced skill law enforcement professionals to help nations create law enforcement institutions that become the foundation of self-operated and sustainable criminal justice systems. ASC is now expanding its recruiting efforts for experienced law enforcement and criminal justice system professionals. For more information about the program and job opportunities, visit www.usis.com/cjps.

ASC will coordinate its work with and rely on internal resources from Altegrity’s government business, USIS, to create a world-class business that provides its services in U.S. and international markets. USIS has already trained more than 10,000 students in over 50 countries in police, anti-terrorism, and counterinsurgency techniques, and presently has training teams operating in Iraq, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Colombia.

Altegrity and USIS are also on Facebook and Twitter (on Twitter, search USIS_LLC). Follow posts and tweets for up-to-date company information, including CJPS program updates.
